Writers and authors have different reasons why they write. Most of the first time writers I have met wrote to launch a career in the speaking industry, or to increase their credibility and be regarded as experts on their subject matter. I write because writing is a great way to freely express oneself and at the same time leave a legacy to the world.
I once heard Jim Rohn say that one of the best gifts you can give your children and grandchildren is a personal development library at home. I agree. My father gave me and my siblings that gift, and I will take it a step further by leaving to my children a library with a few dozen books I would have authored.
